That is what I am saying - from Squid's perspective, 
internal DNS is the request for a name look-up being sent 
via the '/etc/resolv.conf', basically, to some name 
server running on UDP service 53.

Let's not confuse things - internal squid "cache" is 
orthogonal to internal squid "look-up".

This is true - from Squid's perspective, external name 
look-ups are through the use of a wrapper program, 
'dnsserver' in this case (NOT enabled by default).
