It doesn't help either that that basement houses an open airconditioning duct for the building. It's critical this equipment is moved away from dust sources ASAP, and serviced (cleaned). With fans and such, the dust will clog the motors up pretty quick, and soon, routers and switches will start dying due heat exhaustion. Mark.
