CFI has the monopoly, for .ug domains, however having a monopoly doesnt
translate to profitability,
they are market forces at play, for example if CFI charged $500 for a domain,
would they make the same profit/loss against charging $45
you might find that at $45, they make more money, the last time, i paid for a
.ug domain, it cost about $30 (UGX 70,000), which is high but not so high,
The question is, if CFI charged $10 would it translate into more domains
registered,
I have seen many monopolies rise and fall, and having a monopoly isnt a home run
I also remember CFI offered to relinquish the business for a few nickels(dont
remember the figure).
Hi In Denmark the .DK domain is administered by "DK Hostmaster", a "not for
profit" company! A .DK domain cost approx. USD 9 pr. year! You can read more
here https://www.dk-hostmaster.dk/english If it is possible in other parts of
the world - why not Uganda!! Steen
