As an apple fan boy I have nothing against linux. It is obvious that os x is basically built on it and even ios takes so much from it that to me its like linux dressed in a fancy suit. So I think the argument over apple versus linux makes no sense. Its like arguing that a red car is better than a blue car! How ever as Tim states. There is a difference between proprietary paid products and free software. I too love all things free. But if I have to pay an extra $29.0 to buy os x instead of downloading ubuntu for free. I am going to pay the extra money for a better linux experience. Compared to the price of a windows 7 ultimate license os x is basically a steal. As far as phones go no end user gets the benefits of android being free. The android phones cost the same as iphones Android updates and ios updates also cost the same (free). And after using both androids and iphones side by side for the last three years there is no question ios experience beats android in everyway. I never sit and wish my iphone could do a, b, and c. But I regularly pray that the next android update fixes the quirks with my android phone.
