Android is not paid software by M$ definition of the word and if that is the only definition used then it is as free as the air we breath.
But i cant believe so many eyes are closed over here. Android actually has a price tag. And a very steep one at that. I compare it to a recent promotion that gained some negative attention here in Florida a few years back. A used car dealer offered a years worth of free gas if you bought a car at a pre determined price. Come to find out the pre determined price was that of a new car!!! And of course a years worth of gas is useless if you dont buy a car from someone. This is android in a nut shell. And this is how it is sold: "Buy this device for $499 and you are free to use the software however you want for as long as you want" Without buying a device android is useless to 99% of the people on this planet. Also the part of 'use how you want for as long as you want' doesnt hold water as im sure anyone who has an HTC or Motorola android device will tell you. They are as locked down as any Apple device. The argument that android devices are cheaper than apple devices is not true either. Since to get the same quality as an iphone you have to buy the top of the line android. And on top of that with the iphone 3gs no $19.99 at radio shack, you cant honestly say you would pick a bottom shelf android over even an iphone 3gs at this point :) OTher than that... this is a gr8 thread. one of the best in my short time on this lisT!
