Dear all,
two points added to Vance's ideas:
keep always the same the distance from the index-thumb to the little finger.
That means that if you have to play in the 5th course, you would have to
move your arm. In this way you teach your body a very logical way of
working: only one valid for every situation.
The fingers should play in all of the courses the same way.
Wrist... it might be helpful to some a little movement from it in order to
lead the fingers to their right plucking area, but then you would be
neutralizing the arm's work, and loose accuracy.
Eve when I play "chords", I try to use my arm. I never keep my little
finger fixed, and I don't think fixation of any moving element would be very
useful, but this might be a matter of taste.
Best,
A
