Hi,

I've learned NOT to use the arm while playing and to fix the pinky on
the soundbooard (for orientation). If you move the pinky IMHO it doesn't
make sense to put it on the soundboard anyway.
The tone production should be with the fingers using them in a way like
"hammering" on the the strings. The technique is "thumb under". 
I've studies with Sigrun Richter in Frankfurt and as far as I know the
same technique is teached by Konrad Jungh�nel. 
The technique Hoppy and his students promote leads to a good and secure
sound but as Sigrun has put it "there are many ways to come to a
satisfying result".
