Hi, Omer, Well, I would think the first question would be what your (or your instructor's) definition of "fantasy" is. The term seems to have fallen out of favor early in the 17th c. Would preludes, intermezzi, etudes, or romances count? Can it be any relative non-structured, i.e. not a song, not a dance form? Would "Recuerdas de l'Alhambra" be a "fantasy" for example, even if you, like me, could never handle all those trems?
If you need the actual word fantasy, I'm sure there are a few, though the meaning of the term changed over time, even in the early years. Many of Francesco's highly structured and contrapuntal "fantasias" probably wouldn't have been thought of as representing the form 70 years later. On the other hand, I have the music for "Fantasia on 'The Old Oaken Bucket'" for mandolin orchestra (including 2 5-string banjos) from about 1924. Also, does it have to be "classical"? Would Tom Rush's "Rockport Sunday" be a fantasy? John Fahey's atmospheric arrangement of "In Christ There is No East or West"? (No, probably a chorale prelude.) Bukka White's "Panama Limited'? And you can always just tune your G down to F# and you've got the entire 6-course repertoire at your finger tips. Guitarists do it all the time. As for modern guitar; a fine instrument! I play mine all the time. Lots of good music for it, it stays pretty well in tune (except my g string), and a set of strings will only set you back about 5 USD, if you know where to look! And, hey, just get nylon. It's historically accurate! Also, like the lute, there's a lot of free music on the web. But first, why not go to: http://www.delcamp.net, join up, and ask the guitarists. I'm sure they'll have a lot. Or just go and look directly yourself: http://www.delcamp.net/forum/en/viewforum.php?f=7&sid=d1b6887c337ddfd895d4c8a3492bfa4c http://www.muslib.se/ebibliotek/boije/ http://www.creativeguitar.org/sheet-music http://meantone.com/MusicDownloads/Downloads.html http://memory.loc.gov/cgi-bin/query/S?ammem/mussm:@field([EMAIL PROTECTED](Guitar+music+)) Happy hunting, and good luck! Best to all, and keep playing, Chris. >>> Omer katzir <[EMAIL PROTECTED]> 7/13/2008 3:40 AM >>> Well...i need it for my collage course. i really don't want something from the baroque forward. I have some of Mudarra's stuff, but I'm looking for some more. my guitar is a modern guitar, normal tuning, like in every place on earth. retuning is an option. any suggestion will be helpful for me. thank you and have a happy new week! (and i hope you bought the new iPhone :-) ) To get on or off this list see list information at http://www.cs.dartmouth.edu/~wbc/lute-admin/index.html
