problem is, not every dancer is performing the same pattern, some will do
a cinq-pas exclusivly, others get ored witht hat and do longer dance
'phrases', so you have some doing 123,4+6; others 123,456,789,10+12.  The
band needs a steady rhythm while many are on the floor, its only when the
solo dancing starts (often in the context of challenges between the
dancers) that it is perhaps a good idea to adjust subtly to the particular
dancer, and then with some knowledge of what is prefered.
