Good people: I sent two reactions to Russell's posting to luv-talk because I thought my comments were further from luv-main's topic mandate than was Russell's original post. They _might_ be topical enough, here; I was trying to err on the side of good netiquette.
At this point, I was intending to reference them by URL, but it appears that Web links to Mailman3's Postorius archiver are now broken(?). Starting from https://www.luv.asn.au/faq/ , I cannot navigate to archives any more. (The broken links I noted in the FAQ earlier are also still broken.) Quoting Brian May ([email protected]): > It is a concern of mine that governments are rushing to open up too much > too soon, especially as under 12 year children can't get vaccinated yet. > While we don't have many young children attending meetings, people who > do attend may have such kids at home, who are still at risk (I have one > here who turns 12 next month). I commend LUV's caution, in this regard -- being concerned not just about breakthrough infection, but also children, the immunosuppressed, and the remaining unvaccinated. > When we do decide to have in person meetings again, do we want to impose > the requirement that everybody should be double vaccinated? As a distant foreigner, I will refrain from advising, but I will mention (as I did in one of my luv-talk postings) that my local LUG here in Silicon Valley, along with several other San Francisco Bay Area LUGs, has had good success with "hybrid" outdoor meetings interacting with remote participants who're on Jitsi Meet. In-person attendees are required to bring proof of vaccination. Example announcement: http://linuxmafia.com/pipermail/conspire/2021-October/011793.html As the weather improves (becomes drier) in Vic., perhaps that will become more feasible, and could be pondered as to whether it would be wise (if local infection prospects have improved enough). Should I cross-post back to this thread my comments on luv-talk? Some of it concerned a modelling tool (https://www.microcovid.org/) for realistically quantifying COVID-19 risk for possible activities. _______________________________________________ luv-main mailing list -- [email protected] To unsubscribe send an email to [email protected]
