As far as I know, they have more people who contribute, and more support
on Debian side than LXDE.
And for the tasks manager, I still prefer lxtask, it uses less resources
(1% vs 10% of CPU usage on my testing system).

Lxappareance is probably one of the best configuration tool we have on
LXDE :-)

I'm still working on lxsession to achieve this integration using Dbus.
In my imagination, it should be a place where you have default
applications, communication between applications ... with only the need
to implement the appropriate dbus methods. It's still hidden and
sometime just a prototype in the new lxsession (git), I hope I can
finish it properly soon to have more shiny stuff to show.

Not fast, but they are regularly releases, with various improvements.
Their man power is also limited :-)

The eternal question "How to bring more devs to work on the project",
sorry I don't have the answer :-) Maybe first, we may look at the bug
tracker to see if anyone send patches.
