If by "select/paste from some messages" you mean building up complete
messages from fragments like

   +#define FIRST_SEGMENT gettext(" first")
    #define GUESSING_SEGMENT gettext(", guessing...")
    #define PERMISSIONS_SEGMENT gettext("Permissions for ")
    #define SELECT_SEGMENT gettext("Select "),

that's horrible anyway.  Having such fragments in the catalog rather
than full messages makes it impossible to make good translations
to languages where the word order should be different.
