not exactly - a large fraction of those were from converting inline
text fragments to gettext - but they were fragments in the code as written.
I added similar definitions to LYMessages_en.h (without changing the
design otherwise) to bring the total number of files referencing gettext
down enough that it can be built with Solaris' gettext (which has an
upper limit on the length of the file-list). So all of those fragments
were in the code before we started converting to gettext.
