I guess this is something that we need to discuss. My view is that we
should demand as little as possible from the frontends. Note that some
of the tabbed folders (xforms name) you mentioned has been implemented
(partially?) in the development series.
Regardless of frontend we obvioulsly want all LyX users to feel at
home with it. But we can not demand that frontends be equal.
