I think keeping as many similarities as possible is a good thing. I'd
be really pissed off if I had to search for options in dialogs in
Netscape for windows just because it is different from Netscape for
Unix. We could have a GUI design team which discusses these topics,
but we should qvoid gratuitous deviations from a common
look-and-feel. Of course there will be differences due to toolkit
limits (ncurses and even xforms), cultural differences (modal dialogs
in windows? File->Quit vs File->Exit), but we should think of LyX as a
common tool that people can use on several environments. Think also
that all the docs will have to be modified and maintained separately
just to cover these differences.
We should remember that LyX should not only be fun, but also be a tool
people can depend on.
Enough rambling. Back to the diapers.
