There are problems with security using this sourceforge account. It is
not that I do not trust the people who have access to the account, but I
cannot sign a binary and then put it somewhere to which people other
than certain pre-approved folks---JMarc, Pavel, Jurgen, Vincent,
etc---have access.
I would not oppose moving completely our download service to sourceforge
myself, though others have worries about the structure of our FTP links
failing to work henceforth. If someone could figure out a way to mirror
the directory structure from here
ftp://ftp.lip6.fr/pub/lyx/
on sourceforge, that would overcome this worry, I think.

I think there is a pretty definite plan to move to git. Many of us
already have, for our own work.
