Other solution: make sourceforge an in-official mirror: mention it on the lyx website as an alternative download location. Additionally, one could sync sourceforge every 60 minutes, so that all changes on sourceforge are automatically reverted. But isn't this always the problem of a mirror, thet the website mirrored has no control over the mirror?
