        The problem arises when you want to put some Latex code in the
figure, say greek letters or just some sort of fancy text. If you
write your text in xfig "a la latex", and then save it as pstex, your
graphs will be saved as some sort of ps file, and the lyx will be able
to play around with the text, so that you can have all those formula
and funny letters lying around.

        I've just printed one, and it works, so I'm dead happy with it
:) 

        BTW, you'd like to start xfig as xfig -spec.
