If you' ve got ghostscript (you should if you use ghostview), you also
should have ps2epsi. This automatically calculates the bounding box
from your PostScript images. The disadvantage is that the file will
become larger due to an added "bitmap version of the final displayed
page" (man ps2epsi). Thus the extention "epsi".
You also can get and install the "pstools". This gives the opportunity
to generate a plain eps file, but fails for the output of a number of
programs (I've got problems with GMT Postscript output). Nevertheless,
it's worth getting it...
