The file format has changed a bit between 1.3 and 1.4, we had more than 15 changes in the file format, all documented, and supported by lyx2lyx. This allowed us to clean the file format and it easier now to have tools to create lyx files. As stated elsewhere in this thread the file format will be XML, easier it is impossible. ;-) -- José Abílio
