I've mentioned here that the MA contacts app wasn't putting things in the
correct order, after modifying or adding a new contact.
I've figured out why, and this may help someone, sometime.

In every contact app I've used in the last 15 years, all entries are sorted
case insensitively, that is greene dan (both starting lowercase) would come
before Greene Daniel (both starting uppercase).
However, when I enter greene dan, forgetting to capitalize the first letter
of each proper name, MA puts it at the end of the contact list.
It turns out that MA appears to be sorting the list case-sensitively.
This is not a problem, as long as you, the user, are strictly consistent in
your capitalization. Forget to capitalize a name, or capitalize one when
every other entry is lower case, and your list will start to look very
mysterious.
Say you forget to uppercase the first letter of a few first names, you could
get a list looking like:
Smith Bob
Smith Henry
Smith Tom
Smith andrew
Smith bill
Smith john
Obviously, the capitalization on the first names are causing the names to be
just that much out of order to make you wonder strange things.

When this phone was set up, 105 contacts were imported from an old Windows
phone, first and last names all nicely capitalized.
I added a few items, forgetting to capitalize properly, and at first it
looked like the entries weren't even there, until I noticed them hanging out
at the end of the list.
The sensitivity issue may also explain some strangeness I've seen when
entering lower case letters in the filter text field, and the field saying
it could find no contacts.

Hmm.
Just one of those little annoyances...

Cheers
Dan G
