Thanks for the quick reply. I don't quite catch what you mean by the image. When I come into the message list, I never hear "Unread" for any single unthreaded messages. Is this possibly caused by Mail marking the thing as Unread as soon as it is selected by highlighting on the list? I really like being to identify read and unread messages while scrolling up and down the list like in other mailers.
