Okay what I did was select audio device, and then in pop up to the right internal mike. Then go into tool bar check the mute box. Go ahead then and check record and it starts then. The highjack will then check too but since the mute is checked it won't come out over the speakers. The only other option I can think of is to let it highjack and wear headphones, which I've done in the past to monitor recordings I made. So that has changed over the years where you check the mute box as well. It recorded my test file well, which was mostly voice over over the speakers getting picked up by the mike.
Let me know if that helps or not, just did a quick test of it, when I turned off the highjack it gave me an error message. So tried the mute then and that seemed to work.
