Amber, I don't know what your experience with the iMac is but they are *not* particularly portable. They weigh 35 pounds and the handle location on them makes them unwieldy to transport. I just checked the Apple Store and it looks like Apple has taken the DVD option out of their computers. Also, take a look at the Ibook. It runs DVD's and is much lighter and not much more expensive (relatively) than an iMac.
