I know you can open Word 97/98/2000/2001/XP/X documents in Word 5 and 6 (with a plugin), but I'm not sure about the other way around. > What would people suggest as a reliable OS X word processor which can deal > happily with all the formatting in my Word 5.1 files? How much are you willing to pay (&, if you're an academic user, what brand would you use?)? AppleWorks is a steal compared to Microsoft Office (even Word alone) for regular users. For academic users you shouldn't find too much of a difference (at least, if you're at the U of T you can purchase licences for Office for X for $100) and will have to decide based on what you desire. I'm still partial to using Word 2001 under OS X's Classic (don't like Word for X). L8r, Eric. -- Mac Canada is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and...
