Yes, Appleworks is a functional and economical solution. It can indeed save
Appleworks word processing and spreadsheet documents as Word for Mac ver. 6
and Word for Mac 98. It can also save in the Windows formats from Word 6/Win
95 up to Word for XP. Appleworks database files are saves as tab delimited
ASCII text. Appleworks can also handle Rich Text Files, HTML documents and
the more than two dozen formats that QuickTime can handle.
