Could I make my own CD version? The G4 Quicksilver has an after

No. Not even using Patch Burn or Toast unless you really want to try
some unreliable geek hack method.
I've already sprung for the "family edition" of Tiger (to be
strictly legal) so I really don't want to spend any more...
I didn't realize you could buy it on CDs.
A stupid procedure you have to go through, if the option even still
exists - send in your DVD with receipt, pay Apple $20.00usd and they
would send the CD set often a few weeks later. Now you're out your
DVD install!!! :(
What structure would the multiple CDs have to have?
Forget it and don't bother IMHO.
Thanks again for any suggestions.
Suggestions follow:
- Always check requirements before purchasing.
- Stick with what you've got unless you really need some of the new features.
- Some new Tiger apps won't even run with anything less than a 733MHz Mac.
- 512MB RAM is the absolute MINIMUM amount of installed memory for Tiger IMHO.
- A 350MHz is usually painfully S L O W, even with 1GB or memory. The
maximum for that model.
There are methods on the WEB for making and burning a BOOTABLE image.
I mention BOOTABLE with emphasis otherwise it won't work. You'll need
to some WEB searching.

Hello All,
I have a slot loading 350 Mhz iMac with no Firewire and a read only CD
internal drive.
It's running OS X Panther happily (with 512 MB RAM) and I would like to
upgrade it to Tiger, which can only be installed from DVD.
So I need to upgrade the optical drive, or find another way to install.
Does anyone have a DVD drive for sale (slot loading) that would work in
this machine?
I have tried making a disk image of the DVD, putting it on the iMac
using ethernet, but the install disk doesn't stay mounted when I do the
required restart to install.
Any help appreciated...
Stan
