Russ, I had a similar problem with the update from IE 4.X to 5...I vaguely remember reading an article somewhere mentioning that if you get rid of all components of IE, not just the app but also the assoc. files in System folder, installer log, others... (and after making backup of settings, bookmarks, etc) then do a clean install of full IE 5 it should work...I can't remember if it was from doing this or from updating the OS that I got around the problem but it may be worth a go if what the others mentioned doesn't help?
