Hi Stephen Yes this is normal - I got the same when I confused a phone cable with a modem cable. You just need a standard modem cable. As it happens I recommend getting an External modem if you can. The geoport ties up your Mac's ram and if it gets stuck like modems do - you cant reset like an external - have to restart. Then you would have a commII slot spare I believe and could put an ethernet card in if desired.
