Do we need a special cable or is the card hosed? > This is probably because the US phone system is wired differently to the UK one, a simple solution is to get a US modem cable (the one with the small 4-way plugs on each end) and a US-UK modem adapter (from any phone shop). Then it should be fine, however the GeoPort modems are slow by today's standards, the best option imho is to buy a Mac modem cable, and a cheap V90 external modem (a PC one is fine, most if not all will work with the Mac). Do not try to use a PC internal modem as these do not work, however the external ones are fine. Ben.
