And I would also love to know where these skip loads of vintage Mac gear are which I have seen references to on this and other lists.
Primary source is to check local colleges and hospitals. Contact their IT helpdesks and ask 'em if they are chucking or thinking of chucking old hardware out.(before it reaches skips). Usually it is old PC stuff, but sometimes a Mac II/Quadra/early PPC might turn up. With students demanding G4 stuff these days even PPC 604 stuff is now starting to appear. Failing that contact any local printing companies in your area. Finally check out ebay. Real gems occassionally pop up, not always listed under the Mac section. Sometimes buying a Quadra off someone who knows nowt about Macs can reveal some fantastic bespoke nubus cards. By regularly exchanging emails with other ebayers, you can get a good picture of what is on the scene and what is a realistic price. eg. LC475's are worth about 5, dependent on configuration. -- Mac UK is sponsored by <http://lowendmac.com/> and... 123Inkjets.com <http://lowendmac.com/ad/123inkjets.html> Support Low End Mac <http://lowendmac.com/lists/support.html> Mac UK list info: <http://lowendmac.com/lists/mac-uk.shtml> --> AOL users, remove "mailto:" Send list messages to: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> To unsubscribe, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> For digest mode, email: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Subscription questions: <mailto:[EMAIL PROTECTED]> Archive: <http://www.mail-archive.com/mac-uk%40mail.maclaunch.com/> Using a Mac?
