Hello All,

Richard from Canada but I've spent 12 years in Germany before moving to
Bristol area last year. (makes for an interesting mix of software!)

My current pride and joy is a 700 iBook CD-RW/DVD combo drive with airport
card and 640 MB RAM.

I have an LC475 with 8/80 packed away in storage. (Still hoping to use it as
a mail server sometime but need an ethernet card and PPC upgrade beforehand)

used to have an iMac 400 DV (sold to afford the iBook as I do a lot of
travelling)

also use the following:

-Airport base station (snow)
-Soundsticks/iSub
-iPod
-agfa snapscan scanner
-graphics tablet
-webcam
-digicam

I have been hooked since seeing my first Mac back in 84 but never had the
cash for one until 93.

Unfortunately the wife and work are believers in the 'doze propaganda and
therefore when I buy new items I try to get as much compatibility as
possible between the two worlds.

Nah, I would imagine that most of those people with the big lists are using
them professionally (and can therefore write them off mostly to the
business)...besides, how many Macs can one realistically use in a non
business environment at a time?

Depends on the needs...you can swap most items on the iMacs with the notable
exceptions of the processor and the graphics card...but you will certainly
get longer life and use out of a G3/G4...

You are aware that the beauty of X as an OS is that it is based on the BSD
un*x world? The argument that Linux is better is therefore void...anything
that he is using in Linux is available now on the Mac or will be ported over
sometime soon and has a better future than the 'doze prospects...Many un*x
and Linux fanatics are switching over to the Mac as they want the power of
open source with the solid quality and looks of the Mac...

Keep the faith John!

Cheers,

Richard
