Hi,
  It is a phonicpro modem. They do indeed have a web site and an apparant
link to a macintosh 'driver' but it leads nowhere. An email enquiry has
elicited no response. 
  I'm going to try something called the apple modem script generator or
look for some modern scripts for V90 modems that perhaps are not in my OS
8.5 setup.
