They overlooked several things here:

1) Macs rarely break, and those that do are either old enough to warrent replacement, 
or under Applecare warrenty.
2) Not many G4 users balance their Macs on 25ft high balconies...
3) Even so-called High-Spec PCs are often built with some (usually less than 'normal') 
cheap and nasty components. These inevitably fail and need replacing, thus the 
requirement for PC spares is higher.
