BTW, where did you get the prefab
 php forum (for Mac)?

A couple of good sites for free php scripts: http://php.resourceindex.com http://hotscripts.com

And there's also a site where some great people have installed a ton of different php scripts (only 5 forum scripts though) so that you can try them out before going through the installation process yourself:

There are tons of free forum software out there, most of them overly bloated IMO. Recently I spend 2 weeks surfing, trying to find a nice and simple forum that wasn't way overkill for my purpose, and ended up with a perl script (I usually end up with something perl, seems there a lots more easy to install and simple scripts written in perl) called Simpleforum:

It's PHP, and it's running on a Unix server. It's called Invision Power
Board, IIRC. http://www.invisionboard.com Apparently not free, but offered
by the host as part of the package.

You can get a free for non-commercial use Invision Power Board, it's just darned hard to find the download page at the site, it's here:
http://www.invisionboard.com/download/index.php
If you use it, be sure to download the security fix packages as well. Recently new security issues was found, and I don't see a patch for those yet! Read below.

Before you install any scripts at all, at your wehost or your own server, it's a good idea to check them out for security issues (almost all of the major php cms/forum scripts are vulnerable to cross-site scripting and sql injection), you can check them out here:

Well, good luck
