As a Mac user and as someone who supports other users, the standard Mac
way would be preferable, OpenOffice.org > Preferences.

The point is not taking away OOo->Preferences, but bringing back Tools->Options. So that OOo->Preferences and Tools->Options would bring up the same dialog.
