MacFUSE is not a daemon or a program that automatically launches. It's
not even a "program" in the usual sense. It's a toolkit--a library.
Just installing it won't do anything on your system--nothing will run
by itself. Therefore, MacFUSE can't make your desktop "disappear" or
some such. There must be something else happening on your system. I've
never used iPodDisk myself, so I can't tell you if it tries to
automatically launch etc. Try booting verbose (cmd-v when you power on
the computer) and see if you catch any error or warning messages. Can
you ssh into your system?
