Hello Tiffany, Try the following:
Make sure your version of Sonnet's software is the latest for the Crescendo L2 Card that you are installing: http://www.sonnettech.com/downloads/proc_upgrds_sw.html#ce Shut the Mac down. Remove all PCI cards out of the Mac. Disconnect all peripherals from the Mac --- weeeelllll leave the monitor plugged in :^). Start the mac up, holding down the shift key (I think that is the one to start with extensions turned off- it has been a while since I worked in OS-9). Do a clean install of OS-9 followed by a fresh install of the Sonnet extension. Restart. If you are okay at this point, begin carefully adding peripherals etc back in. (Keep in mind that you can use extension-manager control panel to control which extensions and Control Panels get started at boot up time. It might be prudent to only allow the base Apple ones plus the Sonnet one to start until you narrow things down). After a shutdown, put the PCI cards back in one at a time. Note: OS-9 will inform you about USB devices etc that it finds attached and has no drivers for. It will even offer to go to the net and fetch them for you after you get a connection to the net. Jerry ps. Who makes the PCI USB card? Some of these cards require software updates for them to work properly (that is not crash the system -- which is odd as OS-9 has a lot of USB support built in!
