Janice, thanks for answering, the mystery is solved. Even after I could not get my international settings work on it, I just put my whole international settings into the German mode, so everything turned into German, dates, calendars, my .mac mail account, you name it. And these settings did show the day and dates. So after digesting that I went back into my international settings and turned on the English mode which had been my default settings before, and low and behold, my weekly calendar finally turned out to show date and day of the week. What a strange marvel. I concluded that the holy German tongue ( tongue in cheek) was responsible for setting things straight !!! The miracles of the innards of the computer keep amazing me.
