Greetings
Can anyone out there help.
I have a powerPC 6500, 225 running 7.6.1 with a 68030 processor. I called
Apple and the tech told me that this computer would run up to 9.0, so that
shouldn't be the problem. I am trying to update my computer to 8.0

I keep getting the error
" Sorry, system error has occurred, illegal instruction. To temporary turn
off extensions, restart and hold down shift key.

I have done that. When I turned off the extensions and booted up using the OS
8 as the startup disk I get the above problem. I have run the Norton
Utilities disc and there were a few problems on my hard drive that the "doc"
took care of. I turned off all my extensions except the start up disc and the
cd-rom extension, reboot holding down the "c" key and still get the same
error message.

I have tried booting up from other discs and no problem occurred. But I put
the OS 8 in the cd-rom and get that error message.

Any suggestions where the problem is, would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks
Jan
