Yuck, I didn't know that OSX uses fonts taken from my OS9 partition, even
when I am not running Classic.

What do you do that only takes a moment?

Service Release 1 is installed. I would not trust myself to figure out which
prefs to delete - they aren't as recognizable as in OS9. I will look for MS
font updates.

Yes, selecting one font applies a font that is several fonts away on the
list. So I count how many fonts the list is "off", and use that as "windage"
in aiming at the font I want. So I can select the font I want if I select
the right other font.

I think the fonts that have turned to Chinese are jumped over in the list;
they occupy a line in the display, but are not counted.
