Permissions have little to do with the CD ROM or it's appearance on the desktop. Click on the desktop then Finder>Preferences>Check Show CD on desktop...jf > I have to figure out why the hp scanner app keeps quitting or won't > print...always something, darn it! The easier softer way is to download the correct driver/software from HP, trash the current install including prefs, and reinstall the software. Do you have adequate RAM for what you are doing?...jf
