I got a 750gig Western Digital My Book Studio model for $159 from
NewEgg.com. USB, Firewire 400/800 and eSata. Their checkout is kinda
confusing, but it's workable.

Another space eater is iTunes, especially if you store music on your disk.
If you have "add files to iTunes library" checked it makes a duplicate of
the music file.
