Ann I use Uniden phones.

This is the newest version of the one that I use.
Loves on this unit are the ringer turn off.
Want to take a nap and not be bothered let the answering machine take the call.
Great feature my wife loves it once I showed her how easy and restful it was.
She hates to be awaken by the phone ringing.
You can add phones to the base unit and have a room monitor system set up.
Mine has a speaker phone in the hand set and the base station we use this all
the time to talk to relatives out of town who call so everyone can hear the
conversation.

Subject: [MacGroup] cordless phone

Does anyone have a recommendation for a cordless phone. I'm returning
the second one I've bought this year. Problem is that it is very
difficult, sometimes impossible to hear over it. And I am standing
right by its base station. The old one i had from Radio Shack was
perfect. Easy to hear over, able to hold nine or ten numbers in memory
for quick dialing. And you could plug in headphone for handless use
which is what I want a cordless phone for. I use it when I call
computer tech for help.

I'm not looking for any bells and whistles, just want to be able to
hear the person on the other end. Both of my failures had a dial to
increase the volume. And it worked: to increase the volume of my voice
(even get reverberations my husband could hear on the floor above),
but did nothing to increase the volume of the incoming voice.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated.
