Anne,

Like Ed I use the Uniden. Been a great system! I have the model
listed:

The base station is downstairs in my office (where it should not be).
This is in the corner of the downstairs. This is a 3 story home and
even on the top floor back in the opposite corner you can still get
reception even though it is a 5.8 GHz phone. I didn't know that the
5.8 ghz did NOT have near the range of the 2.4 but they are suppose to
be more secure.

I have 4 extensions in the house besides the base. It has been going
strong for many years and if my wife would allow the base to be in a
more central location we would have coverage in the garage and
outside. When our home was being built we had another home a huge
distance from this one and the construction crew used it as their base
of operations. Each morning the foreman would go to that home and
pick up the 2.4 ghz phone and bring it to the house under construction
and use it all day. The distance was unbelievably far from the home
under construction and once inside the one being built he had
connections even downstairs. Unreal! You can imagine my
disappointment when I found the 5.8 didn't have near the range.

Other than that the Uniden has been wonderful.

John
