John,

I felt the same way and I hated leaving Verizon but after almost two years I must say I have been impressed with AT&T. I had heard of the horrible dealings with them but I pay my bills on line once they email me and since my wife has kept Verizon we compare as we travel and I find that sometimes she will have better reception than I then there are times I will have much better coverage than she.

All in all I have been very satisfied.

ATT is the main reason I've not gotten an iPhone. I'm not willing to put up with all the bs from ATT. As soon as they are available on any carrier I will be getting one.

You can purchase a iPod Touch if you just want to use WiFi.
The internet anywhere is a pretty powerful thing once you start using it. I started with a iPod touch and upgraded to a iPhone when the 3G came out.
I was always looking for a WiFi connection where ever I went.
Now I have the internet where ever I am. I can check my mail and Rss feeds at break or at lunch which I am not allowed to do on the work network connection. Many apps don't us the 3G connection but many of the ones that I use do. There is a cost but the time it saves me at home is greater than the cost. I have the smallest plan as I don't talk on the phone more than a few minutes a day.

Subject: [MacGroup] IPhone question

My cell phone bit the dust this week. So I'm thinking about getting a
iPhone. I want to pay any more subscription cost that I am now. So I guess the big question is "With the iPhone can one access the internet from a Airport or other wireless access point?" Do you need internet access to take
advantage of all the apps that are available?

Tom
