Thanks, John. I'm glad to hear I can run 10.5.x on my iMac. Now I have to find a disk...

Your G5 iMac will run up to 10.5.whatever, mine has it and runs perfectly... If you can borrow a copy of 10.5 you can install it, or Apple, MacAuthority will be glad to sell you a copy... You also might check Amazon, sometimes they heavily discount older os'

Hi Everyone --

I have a G5 iMac that's several years old. It's currently running 10.4.11. I just purchased an iPod Touch and discovered that it won't activate or sync with iTunes 9.x which is the newest version that 10.4.11 will run. According to Apple's site, which I should've checked prior to purchasing the iPod, 10.5.8 is required to run the current version of iTunes that's required to activate and sync the new iPod.

My question is, will this Mac, which has the PPC processor, run 10.5.8? I have a 10.5.5 install disk that came with my MacBook, but it wouldn't install on the iMac. The PowerBook has the Intel processor, so I thought that might be the problem there.

If the iMac will run 10.5.8, can anyone tell me where I can get an install disk, preferably one that isn't terribly expensive?

Thanks for any help,

Sandy Price
