That's very generous of you to offer your disk. I would be willing to drive out to borrow it, and purchase a replacement if something were to happen to it, but if the os disk is Tiger, it won't work for me. Tiger is 10.4.x, which I'm currently running. I need 10.5.x, which is Leopard. Could you check the os disk to verify the version?

Thanks,

Sandy

I am running a G5 Mac on system 10.5.8 and it works well, but when I switched systems I was forced to buy or update a lot of solfware. Some, like Photoshop, would not work any longer, so I no longer have that expensive program.

When I switched systems, I had some other work done, so I purchased the new system at MacAuthority, and let them install it for me, as the computer was there anyhow. I do not recall the charge, but they returned the computer up and working, and gave me a box with three discs, OS Tiger, iWork 06, and something called ION, which says it contains EZ audio Converter for Mac. I have not had need to use any of these discs as yet, but I would like to keep them, in case anything goes wrong with my computer.

However, If you would like to borrow them for a day or two, and promise to return the package undamaged, I suppose I could lend them to you. I live out in north Shelby County, about three miles from US 60 just off Ky 53. If you want to drive out here, I can give you directions.

Thanks for your response. Actually, I have a newer MacBook; I'm hoping to get this new iTouch working on the iMac for my niece. I'm finding that the 10.5.x disk is pretty expensive. Amazon has it for $130. I haven't been able to find it online any cheaper. If I hadn't already shelled out $250 for the iTouch I wouldn't mind so much.

You might have trouble with the final software update with leopard. I have a 17" iMac G5 that did not like the final software update update when I did it last summer. The iMac restarted to a grey screen. I had to reinstall the os

The g5 Mac's are at end of life. Start thinking about replacing it as a main machine.

Hi Everyone --

I have a G5 iMac that's several years old. It's currently running 10.4.11. I just purchased an iPod Touch and discovered that it won't activate or sync with iTunes 9.x which is the newest version that 10.4.11 will run. According to Apple's site, which I should've checked prior to purchasing the iPod, 10.5.8 is required to run the current version of iTunes that's required to activate and sync the new iPod.

If the iMac will run 10.5.8, can anyone tell me where I can get an install disk, preferably one that isn't terribly expensive?

Thanks for any help,

Sandy Price
