This whole thread has started with my question regarding the actual
mechanism IE uses to add new certificates.

Obviously, IE *CAN* add new certificates, as I have personally seen it do so
before when it was updating an outdated certificate. Selecting a specific
certificate file, brought up a dialog, and it promptly proceeded to add the
certificate.

My question is simple - what is the mechanism, and what format does a file
need to have, in order to elicit this 'let me add this' behavior from MSIE.

Obviously, it *can* do it, but how can we coax it into doing this.

If anyone would know it, it would be the folks on the IE team that frequent
this list. Providing an answer to this question would go a long way towards
solving this issue, and possibly providing a work-around, or solution to
those of us that need it.
