I think that after the responses from Jimmy Greval, this kind of
generalisation is unfair. Jimmy has explained the reasons behind this,
originally, and while acknowledging that the next version of MSIE won't have
such support, has definitely left the door open for the version following
this one.

Trust me, if that version still doesn't have support built-in, I'd be the
first one firing up the pyre...

As it stands, while not happy with the current situation, I understand his
reasons - albeit this will not stop me from looking for an alternative -
which was the reason I asked my initial reason in the first place.
